When people think performance cars they immediately think of a sweet, expensive car with a stick shift. That trend of performance cars having a high-end stick shift are numbered. Car companies are starting to switch gears toward only manufacturing performance cars with automatic transmissions. This is confusing to a lot of enthusiasts…until they drive one.
Ford’s new 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission is out of this world fast. There is no way that a human being could duplicate the shift speed of this new platform. Plus, highly responsive paddle shifters and rev-match technology allow the driver to maintain maximum control under spirited driving. Nowadays, automatics are simply faster, easier to drive and more fuel efficient that a manually shifted transmission. Car companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Lamborghini and other top performance car companies have completely stopped manufacturing the manual transmission.
As much as we hate to admit it, manual transmissions are quickly becoming a thing of the past . Luckily for Ford customers, the Ford Mustang, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta still offer manual transmissions. No matter which is quicker through the quarter, Ford realizes that people still love a good ole manual transmission…for now.
