The 2019 Jeep Wrangler and 2019 Ram 1500 both ousted the competition in their classes to secure SUV of the Year and Truck of the Year respectively. Each year, MotorTrend pits ‘all-new’ vehicles in each class against each other and evaluates them on a list of six key criteria. In order to win the coveted title, the vehicles must excel in design advancement, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety, value and performance of intended function.
For the Ram 1500, this is familiar territory. Most recently in 2013 and 2014 when it also claimed the best-in-class title. This year, MotorTrend named the Ram’s V-8 eTorque engine as most efficient in its class with their real-world MPG tests outperforming the EPAs numbers at 18.7 (City)/22.6 (Highway)/20.3 (Combined).
Ram also achieved the highest score possible in all six crash tests. Paired with an impressive camera system that helps the driver avoid any accident threat, Ram makes it a point to keep you safe and on the road.
The Jeep Wrangler platform is iconic in its own right but Jeep hasn’t gotten complacent. Steadily improving, the 2019 Wrangler boasts a slew of features for road and off-road enthusiasts alike. Rethinking the suspension tuning allows for a more comfortable ride on city streets and still allows the Jeep to excel at what is most true to its core: off-roading. MotorTrend summed up their choice by saying, “when you’ve gotta have an off-roader—or want to look like you spend weekends stomping terra firma—the Jeep is impossible to beat.”
