The All-New 2019 Ram Heavy Duty is the first on the market to hit 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque and it’s all thanks to the new 6.7-liter Cummins I-6 High Output Turbo Diesel engine. The Heavy Duty also boasts a staggering towing capacity of 35,100 lbs. and a payload capacity of 7,680 lbs. These numbers are made possible because of expert engineering on behalf of Ram.
By using lighter materials in the frame, drivetrain, and hood to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle it allows the engine to work more efficiently by having to move less mass before you even begin to haul or tow something extra. On top of that, their new 98.5-percent high-strength steel frame allows for the increase in towing and payload capacities because of its decrease in weight while maintaining a high level of torsional rigidity. That rigidness allows less of the power from the engine to be lost in twisting of the chassis and to be delivered where it’s needed most.
Ram isn’t only focused on “truck stuff” with the Heavy Duty line though. They’ve also included a number of technologies that increase comfortability and ride quality. More than 100 safety and security features along with a redesigned interior give you that luxurious feeling that so many capable trucks on the market are missing.
