Projected to produce 330 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2020 Ford Mustang High Performance Package will be the most powerful four-cylinder sports car offered by an American automaker.
Initially started as an engine swap passion project, it borrows the high-revving 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine from the Ford Focus RS, brakes from the Mustang GT, and aerodynamics and suspension components from the Mustang GT Performance Package. It also features an alloy strut tower brace up front which gives you greater steering precision, a limited-slip axle in the rear for better cornering, and a wider 19×9.5-inch premium painted aluminum wheel with 265/40R Pirelli P Zero™ Corsa4 summer tires for improved traction. You’ll still have your pick of Ford’s 10-Speed SelectShift™ automatic transmission or the 6-speed manual, as well as, being able to choose between the fastback coupe or convertible. Ford was able to develop this entire package in just 10 months.
Based on the specs and bump in performance from the base model, many are suspecting the High Performance Package will be a great platform for enthusiasts interested in events like autocross or road racing.
Shown here in the all-new Twister Orange paint scheme, Ford is also bringing a few new colors to the Mustang lineup for 2020. Also available will be Grabber Lime, Iconic Silver, and Red Hot Metallic Tinted Clearcoat.
No word on pricing yet but you can expect to see them landing at dealerships this Fall.
